Frolicking in the sun, catching a wave, and digging in the sand–is it just us, or do our favorite things to do at the beach sound weirdly similar to some of our pup’s favorite activities? We rounded up two of the area’s best dog-friendly beaches, so next time you want to catch some waves, you can bring your pup along for the ride:
Prospect Park Dog Beach in Brooklyn, NY
This pup water paradise boasts underwater fencing, so your dog can steer clear of wildlife while taking a dip. Pups are also free to run off-leash in the early morning and late evening in the park’s designated meadows.
Longport Beach in Somers Point, NJ
This off-leash park, known simply to locals as “Dog Beach,” is an inlet, so the waves will never get too big for your pup. Though most other Ocean City beaches require beach tags, this stretch of sand is completely free and open year-round to visitors.

If you’re looking for someone who’ll go bananas every time they see your dog or cat, knows them so well they notice one hair out of place, speaks their language, knows their favorite treat AND movie and most of all become their second favorite human in the whole world, then you’ve found the right person!
